*How EricaAi and our regulated professional live chat work*
| **THIS CHAT SUPPORTS - BUT DOES NOT REPLACE - YOUR OWN HEALTHCARE TEAM**
Our regulated healthcare professionals can provide information and clinical advice through live chat. Because they cannot examine you or your baby and may not have your full records, continue to use your own midwife, maternity unit, GP, prescriber and other healthcare professionals for ongoing care. |
 
| **1. EricaAi gives an automated first response**
It uses a closed, controlled knowledge base and is designed to answer only questions within the subjects it has been trained to cover. |
 
| **2. The first answer is provisional**
You may see EricaAi's response before a regulated healthcare professional has reviewed it. Do not treat it as the final professional response. |
 
| **3. Every EricaAi response is reviewed**
An appropriately qualified expert reviews it before the conversation is marked as resolved. They may confirm, add to, change or correct it, or direct you to another service. |
 
| **4. Remote advice has limits**
The chat team cannot physically examine you or your baby, take observations or access every part of your health record. They may advise you to contact your own team or attend for assessment. |
 
| **5. The chat is not for emergencies, labour or urgent concerns**
Call 999 for a serious emergency. For urgent maternity concerns - including labour, bleeding, severe pain, waters breaking, reduced or changed baby movements, or feeling seriously unwell - contact your maternity unit or midwife immediately. Use NHS 111 for urgent, non-life-threatening help. Do not wait for chat or expert review. |
 
| **6. Protect your information**
Only share information needed for your question. Health information is sensitive personal information and is handled as explained in our Privacy Notice. |
